Some
of boxing’s brightest young talents, including eight
unbeaten prospects, will take center stage on Friday,
June 27 when Golden Boy Promotions returns to the
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California for a
stacked, eight-fight card which promises more explosive
action than you’ll find anywhere else. “I’m excited for this fight so I can show people why I’m ranked #1 by the WBO and to show the world that I’m ready for my shot at a world title,” said Mares. “I trained really hard for this fight and I know I’ll have a spectacular win.” Also appearing on the ‘Solo Boxeo’ broadcast will be Montebello junior featherweight Nestor Rocha (18-1, 6 KOs), who hopes to have the support of the California fans when he locks horns over ten scheduled rounds with Mexico City’s Jose Angel Beranza (30-12-2, 25 KOs). But that’s not all, as three of Puerto Rico’s most exciting fighters will lace up their gloves in bouts destined to get fight fans on their feet and cheering. In a six round junior featherweight bout Juan Velasquez (7-0, 4 KOs) battles Missael Nunez (4-6-2); junior welterweight Hector Sanchez, will put his unbeaten (13-0, 5 KOs) record on the line in a six round contest against Nicaraguan veteran Julio Gamboa (26-13-2, 16 KOs) and welterweight Carlos Garcia (2-0-1, 2 KOs) of Carolina, will rumble with Las Vegan Abon Lozano who will be making his professional debut. In junior bantamweight action, Joey Silva (8-0, 4 KOs) of Denver squares off in a six rounder against Mexico’s Jose Mercado (4-9, 4 KOs); featherweight Charles Huerta (4-0, 2 KOs) of Lakewood, California battles Manuel Sarabia (16-25-9, 10 KOs) of Culiacan, Sinaloa Mexico over four scheduled rounds; and female bantamweight and local favorite Kaliesha West (8-0, 1 KO) of Moreno Valley, California takes on Elizabeth Villareal (5-6-2) of San Antonio, Texas in a six round match.
